Graphic Novels: 2003 was a good year.

According to Publishers Weekly:

"Over the last three years, sales of graphic novels have increased 103% in the book trade [bookstores] and about 28% in comics shops. The total market for graphic novels in 2003 is estimated to have been about $120 million, and it was the first year in which the sales of graphic novels in the book trade exceeded sales in comics specialty shops."
The biggest growth has been in the bookstores, which sold $32M in 2001, $50M in 2002, and $65M in 2003.
